Today Twitter updated its policy
Today, we will start enforcing updates to the Twitter Rules announced last month to reduce hateful and abusive content on Twitter.
Ok, let’s see
New policies include ‘New Rules on Violence and Physical Harm’:
Specific threats of violence or wishing for serious physical harm, death, or disease to an individual or group of people is in violation of our policies.
Sounds good. So, I decided to check Twitter feed using ‘I hope Trump dies’ key words:
Hm… Weird. But these tweets are pretty new, so I sorted out the ones from June 1 to June 30
Then the notorious tweet written by Charlie Sheen after the death of Debbie Reynolds dating back to 12/28/2016 still alive and well
Then this verified lady
And many many others are still there. This definitely works the other way around, but we all know whose side Twitter picks.
But the most curious part of the blog post is the last paragraph:
Today, we are starting to enforce these policies across Twitter. In our efforts to be more aggressive here, we may make some mistakes and are working on a robust appeals process. We’ll evaluate and iterate on these changes in the coming days and weeks, and will keep you posted on progress along the way.
SO, apparently, Twitter openly admits implementation of censorship on the platform.
It’s almost 2k18, we live in the developed society, and here we are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
P.S. Twitter still hasn’t explained why they blocked my account(s), and they haven’t added it to their policy. Interesting…
